Health is wealth

People have different preferences towards the life options available. The same goes for the statement “health is wealth”. What exactly? A simple preference that means health is superior to wealth? Or a comprehensive statement that health and wealth are linked to each other, in a systematic and dynamic way?

Health is a comprehensive concept, it includes physical strength, mental power and spiritual well-being of a person. On the other hand, wealth is a person’s wealth, that is, abundance of money and worldly items. “Health is wealth” is a simple statement but its meaning is so fabulous when you think deeply. People today refer to the statement as when a person is healthy, he is capable of making wealth. On the contrary, if you are not healthy, you cannot work productively and therefore you will not be able to generate income for independent living. This explanation is true, but the deep meaning of this statement can be understood with the words of Virgilio: “The greatest wealth is health.” Virgil is trying to clarify the concept that the greatest wealth is health, not money or worldly items. There is nothing more valuable in our life than having good health.

Patrick Meagher said, “Some people are so poor that all they have is money.” Today people are unduly influenced by wealth that they do not even care about their health, the greatest wealth. They do not understand that without health there is no real happiness or enviable success. A person in poor health cannot enjoy the pleasures of life. I think those people are dumb enough because they don’t care about their health. Our first priority must be to maintain our health in the best way.

There are multiple methods and practices by which a person can stay healthy; Spending time in the natural environment, that is, visiting parks and gardens. Physical exercise is also essential, for example, morning walks, sports, etc., it keeps a person smart and healthy. Water is the cure for all kinds of diseases, so drink water to stay healthy and fit. Eating a balanced diet keeps people away from different diseases. It is said that: “Going to bed early and getting up early, makes a man healthy, rich and wise.” Abandon practices and habits that are harmful to health, such as smoking, drinking and taking drugs because it damages the internal parts of our body. Always be optimistic and cheerful because: “Laughter / smile is the best medicine.” On the contrary, an unhappy person is more prone to fatigue and other illnesses.

Remember, living a healthy life can be the best gift you can give yourself because you cannot enjoy life if you are not healthy. Furthermore, we must not harm our health by running madly after wealth. I would like to conclude my essay on the beautiful words of Mae West: “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
